What is the Mental
State in which one cannot Feel any Physical Pain?
Where does all bodily pain cease, without a trace remaining ?
When, secluded aloof from all sense-desire & isolated from any other
detrimental state,
one enters and remains in the
first jhāna absorption
of directed thought and sustained
reflection, joined with pleasure and joy, born of & in this solitary
seclusion: It is right
there, that all bodily pain ceases without a trace remaining...
Therefore do beings reborn at the
fine-material
brahma level, never feel any physical
pain, since they are continuously absorbed in this the first jhāna
concentration...
