  • Aggivacchagotta Sutta (Aggivaccha Sutta)

Preached at Jetavana to the wanderer Vacchagotta on the danger and futility of theorising about the world, life, etc. (M.i.483ff).

The sutta is evidently so called because the simile of a fire is used. A blazing fire is visible, but, once extinguished, none can say whither it has disappeared.
