  • Bahudhātuka Sutta

Preached at Jetavana.

It contains a series of questions asked by Ananda and the Buddha's answers. The Buddha describes various ways in which the monk can achieve mastery of

  • the elements (dhātu),
  • the senses,
  • the chain of causation,
  • the rationally possible and
  • the rationally impossible.

Other names for the sutta are Catuparivatta, Dhammādāsa, Amatadundubhi and Anuttara Sangāmavijaya. M.iii.61ff.
