  • Dāthāvamsa

A Pāli poem, composed in the reign of Līlāvatī by Dhammakitti, at the request of the minister Parakkama.

It is based on an older Sinhalese Chronicle, the Daladāvamsa, and is an elaborate work dealing with the history of the Tooth Relic up to the time of its arrival in Ceylon with prince datha in 4th century AC:

The Buddha's canine tooth is hidden in the princes's hair.

Ed. by the P.T.S. (1884); for details see P.L.C.207f.
