The forest which overgrew Kalinga when
it was laid waste through the wickedness of King Dandakī (q.v.) (M.i.378;
Mil.130).
It was on the banks of the Godāvarī and,
with the Viñjhātavi, separated the Majjhimadesa from the Dakkhināpatha. It
probably comprised all the forests from Bundelkhand to the river Krishna.
