A city founded by the eldest son of Apacara, king of Ceti (J.iii.460). Later, thirty six kings of the dynasty of Mahāsammata, sons and grandsons of a king named Brahmadatta, reigned in Hatthipura, the last king being Kambalavasabha. Dpv.iii.18; MT. 127, 130.
