An island off the coast of Ceylon. While on a journey there in order to eat jambu fruit, Sanghatissa was killed by the enraged islanders (Mhv.Xxxvi.70f). The Mahāvamsa Tīkā explains (p.666) that it was situated in the sea off Mahātittha, in which case it is one of the islands between the north point of Ceylon and the Indian continent.
