Senkhandasela-Sirivaddhanapura
The ancient name of modern Kandy, in Ceylon.
It first became the capital under King Vīravikkama
(Cv.xcii.7), and tradition has it that it was founded on a site originally
occupied by a hermit named Senkhanda.
It continued to be the capital of Ceylon until 1815 A.C.,
when the island was ceded to the British.
