There are six things without getting rid of which it is impossible to obtain qualities of a transcendental nature (uttarimanussadhammā), to say nothing of Ariyan insight and wisdom. Those things are forgetfulness, want of discrimination, lack of control of the senses, intemperance in eating, deceitfulness and prattle. A.iii.430.
